Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East Established in Romania


The establishment ceremony for the Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East (HQ MNC-SE) took place on July 23rd at the Joint National Training Center (JNTC) “GETICA” in Cincu, Brasov county, with the participation of the President of Romania, his Excellency Klaus-Werner IOHANNIS, the Minister of National Defense, Nicolae-Ionel CIUCĂ, and the Romanian Chief of Defense, Lieutenant General Daniel PETRESCU.

The event gathered alongside MOD representatives, as well local administration and mass-media representatives.

During the ceremony, President IOHANNIS handed over the MNC-SE identification flag to Major General Tomiță-Cătălin TOMESCU, appointed as Commander of MNC-SE by Order of the ROU Minister of Defense.

Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East represents, together with the Multinational Brigade South East and the Multinational Division South East, Romania’s significant contribution to strengthening the allied presence of forces on the Eastern flank of NATO and the deterrence and defense posture of the Alliance against any potential hostile intentions. The HQ will provide command and control of NATO corps-level land operations in peacetime, crises and conflict.

Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East was temporary established in Bucharest.
