HQ MNC-SE Reached Initial Operational Capability

On June 14, at HQ MNC-SE, DEFENDER Europe 21 CAX/CPX Command Post Exercise concluded, with an After Action Review during which the lessons identified from all specific areas on the conduct of the military operation were analyzed, resulting that HQ MNC-SE met the necessary requirements to achieve the Initial Operational Capability.

HQ MNC-SE Commander, Lieutenant General Tomiță-Cătălin TOMESCU, at the completion of the exercise stated “today, June 14, 2021, at the end of the DEFENDER-Europe 21 CAX/CPX exercise, I can declare, with satisfaction, that HQ MNC-SE has reached the Initial Operational Capability, which will allow us to operate in the role of corps headquarters within the NATO Force Structure, in accordance with its present level of development. The results of this exercise are particularly important from the perspective of HQ MNC-SE subsequent milestone – the achievement of the Full Operational Capability by 2024 – ensuring a credible defensive and deterrent capability that NATO needs in the region.”

During its participation in DEFENDER Europe 21 CAX/ CPX exercise, HQ MNC-SE benefited from the support, expertise and operational experience of Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (HQ ARRC) from the United Kingdom, of United States Army for Europe and Africa, as well as from of Romania as Framework Nation, to validate and strengthen its capabilities.

The specific activities to the Command Post Exercise DEFENDER Europe 21 CAX / CPX, taking place between June 10-14 in Romania (Bucharest) and Germany (Grafenwöhr), involved over 400 personnel belonging to the HQ MNC SE, 46th Support Regiment, Allied Rapid Reaction Corps (HQ ARRC) of Great Britain, V Corps of USAREUR-AF, as well as personnel belonging to different structures of the Romanian Army.
