More than 100 commanders and senior officials from approximately 30 NATO military structures, as well as chiefs of the land forces and the joint forces commands from Romania and Bulgaria, participated in the 25th Allied Land Command (LANDCOM) Land Corps Commanders’ Conference (LC3) held in Sibiu from 23 to 25 September.
The event was organised by LANDCOM and hosted by Headquarters Multinational Corps South-East (HQ MNC-SE) from Sibiu and served as a platform for debates on land command and control, operational planning, readiness and effective integration of land forces within NATO’s strategic framework.
In the opening session of the conference, experts from New Strategy Centre (NSC)and the Romanian Ministry of National Defence were invited to deliver presentations on the security challenges in the Black Sea region in the context of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. In his speech, general Darryl A. Williams, LANDCOM commander,stated that „The event was an incredible opportunity to bring our leaders together to discuss our shared commitment to deterrence and collective security. The 25th Land Corps Commanders Conference gave us a forum to have tough discussions, share lessons, and create shared understanding for our leaders that are charged with executing our advance plans. I always leave these kinds of events inspired by the caliber of our leadership across the Land Domain!”
HQ MNC-SE representatives also underlined the pivotal role of the Corps ensuring the continuity of a robust security architecture in its area of operations, shared theirviews on NATO’s Eastern flank challenges of the current geostrategic environment. “This conference is an integral part of the Allied efforts to demonstrate NATO cohesion and to highlight the capabilities and the readiness of the Alliance,” Major-General Cristian Dan, MNC-SE Commander, stated in his opening remarks.
A visit to the Mărășești Mausoleum was organisedas part of the conference where the two commanders, GEN Williams and MGEN Dan, held a moment of silence and laid a wreath in the memory of the Fallen Heroes of the First World War. At the same time, the political advisors (POLADs) engaged in a series of debates on political-military topics covering subjects on regional security and the ratio of powers within the current geostrategic context while the command senior enlisted leaders (CSELs) of the participating organisations visited the Joint National Training Centre and NATO Battlegroup in Romaniawhere they attended a static display set up by the Allied soldiers deployed to Cincu.

The Land Commanders Conference – LC3 is a biannual event organised by LANDCOM and brings together NATO Corps Commanders, Command Senior Enlisted Leaders (CSELs) and Political Advisors (POLADs) from NATO Command Structure and NATO Force Structure.
This forum provided the perfect venue for exchanging opinions, sharing experiences, and discussing critical topics that are of concern for our Alliance. This facilitated situational understanding, enhanced cooperation, interoperability and readiness, thus contributing to a smooth land tactical planning, leading to the successful accomplishment of our common objectives.
Integrated land military efforts synchronized across all domains demonstrate NATO’s commitment to safeguarding stability and security in the Black Sea region.
